Urgent Care Q & A

What Type of Dental Problems Are Urgent?

Major pain in the teeth, gums or jaw is one of the dental issues that qualifies as urgent. Other urgent dental problems include pronounced swelling in the mouth, unusual bleeding from the mouth, a broken tooth, a lost filling or a tooth that has been knocked out of the mouth. If you have any of these problems or some other issue that you suspect might be a dental emergency, contact us immediately. We will advise you on what to do, and will fit you into our dental schedule right away if we are in the office.

What Are Your Office Hours For Urgent Care Patients?

We see urgent care patients during all of our regular business hours. If you call ahead to let us know that there is an emergency, Dr. Jeon can be prepared to treat you promptly upon your arrival. Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What Should You do If You Lose a Filling?

If you lose a filling, we will replace the filling as quickly as possible. If you haven't made it into the dental office yet, avoid eating anything with sugar, as this can cause great pain. A missing filling can quickly lead to decay in the vacated area of the tooth, so fast action is important.

What Should You do if Your Tooth is Knocked Out?

If an adult tooth is knocked out, there is a possibility that it can be re-implanted if you act fast enough. However, there is only around a one hour window of time if the tooth is to be saved. Bring the tooth with you, taking care to touch only the bottom of the tooth. The roots are live tissue that must not be contaminated. If you are able to do so, rinse the tooth off with lukewarm water and place it back into the socket. If you are unable to do so, transport the tooth in a glass of regular cow's milk - as cow's milk has been found to have preservatives that will keep the tooth healthy for a short amount of time.
